Friday Haiku - This is Halloween Hangover Town

We were late to school
So was everybody else
Sugar is tiring.

School parties were fun
and the Parade was more so
Wonder Woman rocks

Raggedy Ann flops
Now I can make a yarn wig!
But I am wiped out.

Another "first" day
to be gotten through with grief.
I did it, barely.

Friday Haiku - Psoriasis, Death, and Taxes

O, psoriasis!
Bane of my adolescence,
I have not missed you.

Next time you come back
I will punch you in the throat
and I won't feel bad.

But for now I will
hide my spotty self in lots
of baggy clothing.

And think of all the
weird baths, lotions, creams and pills
you brought to my life.

I can blame taxes
getting filed with a dead man.
Why ever, you came.

You're a right bastard.
You actually suck out loud.
Please take a long hike.

Friday Haiku: from the lighter side of the yawning pit of mental health problems

I don't have to bathe
Now that I am so crazy...
Isn't that handy?

Now that they all know
the neighbors are less angry
about the tall weeds

My household skills can
make you feel so much better
about how you clean.

People mail me cards
of Dragonflies and Rainbows
Look how pretty!

Wish they'd send dinner
like after the funeral
I prefer pizza.

Friday Haiku; Writer's Block, fear, and loathing in the basement

This week, I did write
Publish those posts, I did not
I am on the fence

I struggle to choose
Just how much I should reveal
About my foibles

I do have much joy
And lots of angsty sorrow
A Debbie Downer!

So first I will put
A motherhood post out now
Remembering us

And who we really are.

A "hello" Friday Haiku, For You

Absence makes the heart grow
when it's a blog you think of
I so missed it here

But I lacked the guts
to tell the truth of my life
once I fucked it up

And effed it I did.
Oh yes, I effed it fully
and so heartily

Now I'm inching back
slowly but determined now
to find a new path.

the Friday Haiku, a day late, a dollar short, personal review

Did I forget to
to thank you, for soup you brought me
after the funeral?

My manners so suck!
Alas, I am still crazy,
no note will follow.

Next time a person
dies and you want to give gifts
to the kids, please don't.

Instead of soft toys
give them your time and presence.
Those things don't pile up.

Daughters! Sugar, spice, and everything nice!

I have two.  Just got online, looked at my stats, and found that someone was looking at a post from four years ago, a Friday Haiku for Claire the Magnificent.  Four years ago!! 2009!  Before a number of things made me come unglued altogether . . . and so here she is, still Magnificent.

Not only Magnificent but wonderful altogether, and keeping me grounded and happy.  Here's to Claire, who is almost a second grader with the ability to read "Middle Grade" books and the wisdom to know how much she enjoys that ability. My mini-me in all the very best ways. And brave, and strong, and true.  My hero!

Haiku Friday: Home Ec. Dropout Blues

The matching dresses
so dainty and fresh last month
now have unmatched stains

crushing discontent
inverse of those ladies on
TV commercials

I do not smile when
laundry soap makes things sparkle
instead I just sigh

and hope that one day
I'll not dress the girls in silk
when they eat chocolate.

And I'll never know
the secrets of the happy
laundress who loves soap

Friday Haiku: Autumnal randomness

Glorious autumn
the search for some new brown shoes
still I bought the black

I've kitted the girls
in case the temps drop quickly
need to knit mittens

Apples are crisper
peaches are much more luscious
I'm dreaming of soups

Feeling such a rush
to enjoy summer's pleasures
before coming in

Friday Haiku: The Real New Year

I have always felt
that autumn marks the new year
and new beginnings

I remember shoes
clothes that were too warm to wear
and all new school books

the hope I'd be new
and better at fitting in
having folks like me

it was more fun next
at college and then grad school
where I was then liked

Act predictably
and get the lay of the land
for the months to come

Pull out clothes to layer
Plan to do the winter chores
Goodbye to summer

Oh, each September
more new than the last winter
Spring ahead, fall back.

Friday Haiku: a day in the life of Hannah

We started early
at the hospital at six
and a got a pager

buzzed by nurse, checked in
Next, medical imaging
to look at her brain.

Glad she had Versed
the MRI is so loud
and I was scared.

We saw dentist next
general anesthesia
was given her twice.

She came though quite well
sassy and not at all sick
she slept on me well.

Tears ran down my face
dropped on the sleeping baby
she kept on resting.

Dentist gave high marks
Neurology on Monday
but I could not wait

Regular doc said
(who could access the records)
Hannah had a stroke.

Twas not anoxic
brain injury, but more harm
and now I know it.

Today she ran more
used her right hand with more skill
and she always will.

But still, it hurts.

Friday haiku - Pie and Beer Day

Utah's holiday
to praise the birth of statehood
and Brigham Young's find.

Mormons celebrate
and call it Pioneer Day
I pick Pie and Beer

The real pioneers
pushed handcarts across the plains
I'll be pushing peas

In chicken pot pie
follow it with chocolate cream
and Hefeweizen

Friday haiku - have I pleased the internet Gods?

Now I'm trying hard
to gain back Blogger's respect.
Let the movies play!

I spilled olive oil
with a touch of balsamic
from my caprese

Sandwich to touchpad
a ritual sacrifice
will it be enough?

Friday haiku

Summer is now here
from rainy and cold to hot
sweaters to heat rash.

My birthday flashed by
now it's the Fourth of July
we've not camped out yet

The peacefulness past
of camping and resting well
will elude me now.

Judging from the fun
of burning sparklers tonight
Hannah won't be safe.

The walking and now
experiencing horses
gives independence

No matter the risk,
her self determination
will not be contained.

Friday haiku - divorcing my favorite restauant

Ichiban sushi
the restaurant of my dreams
oh how I loved you

You were sold, and bought
sold again, to my dismay
I don't forgive you

Your tuna tartare
a delight to the senses
now its just spendy

and just not all that.
I loved the Kewpie mayo
and flying fish eggs

the sushi stood still
the river of time moved on
that moment has passed
